Don't Be Fooled by the Pew Study about Interracial Marriage

New York, NY – August 25, 2010 - The real number of interracial relationships is likely much larger than the Pew Research statistics indicate. Earlier this summer the latest Pew Report indicated that one-in-seven new U.S. marriages are interracial or interethnic. The 15% number equals a record-breaking 10 million people but N.Y. author J.C. Davies says that it is only half of the story. Why?

Marriage in America continues to decline sharply, so the real news can be found in the number of people that are in interracial relationships, cohabitating, or living separately and “just dating.”

"Based on my extensive interviews and analysis, interracial relationships are much more prevalent than the recent Pew stats indicate” Ms. Davies argues, “and instead of 10 million people the likely number is actually closer to 19 million!” The author of I Got The Fever, a new book about interracial relationships, knows that this is important information for anyone interested in dating and/or relationships because “with the racial dynamics in this country expected to change dramatically over the next 40 years, it is time for every single gal to broaden her relationship horizons."

J.C. Davies and the Pew study agree that this dramatic increase has been driven in part by the weakening of longstanding cultural taboos against intermarriage and in part by a large, multi- decade wave of immigrants from Latin America and Asia. Ms. Davies’s well-researched and edgy new book is intended to serve as the definitive guide to interracial dating. According to the author, “Women like to complain that all the good men are married or gay, but they rarely challenge themselves to look outside the box, outside their own race or culture. I say, don’t limit yourself! The man of your dreams could come in any shape, size, color, or culture. Open your eyes and look around. You never know where your soul mate will come from!”
